Press relocated from Ellesmere Port to Kaiserslautern

The specialists from SCHOLPP have moved presses for Opel in the past, but one of their most challenging jobs was to relocate a press from the Opel Vauxhall Motors plant in Ellesmere Port near Liverpool to Kaiserslautern, Germany. Both the route and the total weight were equally tricky, with the press tipping the scales at 850 tonnes. It was no easy task to load and transport it from Ellesmere Port to the port at the mouth of the Mersey, transfer it onto a coaster, transport it by sea to Rotterdam, transfer it onto a barge, transport it on to Ludwigshafen on the Rhine and then carry it on a heavy freight vehicle to the press plant in Kaiserslautern. Once at the destination, the press was unloaded, positioned, reassembled and commissioned.
