Site profile: SCHOLPP in southern Europe

by SCHOLPP

SCHOLPP Ibérica has been providing its services across the whole of southern Europe from its base in Barcelona since 1992. It was the company’s first permanent overseas assembly subsidiary, and therefore represented a milestone in our international development. With the integration of the ProTec Group in 2014, SCHOLPP acquired an additional facility in Oderzo near Venice, which has been well-established in the specialist industrial services market since 2007. The headquarters for SCHOLPP Montaggi Italia moved to the Milan metropolitan region in northern Italy in 2015.

From plant relocations to moving entire operations and installing machinery, SCHOLPP provides its industrial services throughout Italy and Spain both to local medium sized companies and to sites belonging to German and international firms. The SCHOLPP team’s jobs predominantly include relocating presses, printing press machinery and machine tools within Spain and Italy as well as to far flung places across the European continent and as far as the Middle East.

Alongside its traditional machine assembly business, the company also offers services for complex equipment used by the food and solar manufacturing industries, as well as for automated production cells and highly sensitive industrial ovens. SCHOLPP’s southern European branches have made their name above all through their dismantling, packaging, transport, reassembly and technical cleaning service modules. “In the specialist field of press relocation, we offer everything from electrical retrofits to commissioning services,” says Ralf Hofmann, the Managing Director responsible for southern Europe.

Forming technologies are one of the key sectors in which SCHOLPP has a unique amount of expertise and experience in Spain. This applies both to the installation of new machines and the assembly of used units. “We also help our customers in the sector to find used presses,” continues Hofmann. “We work with a number of regional and international dealers who sometimes auction off entire production sites. But our customers often only buy one machine, which we can then package as needed in Barcelona, for example, ready to be shipped across the world to its new destination.”

The southern European sites have a wide range of specialist technical equipment on hand, including the SCHOLPP TG20, TG360 and EZ600 lifting gantries, special hydraulic industrial rollers, various tension rod clamping systems and trailers suitable for goods weighing up to 100 tonnes. This means that the Spanish and Italian staff can move quickly and flexibly at their own sites and others’.

The teams are also highly trained and educated, both in general terms and in terms of sector-specific expertise. More and more specialists are beginning to work together on the company's projects: specialist fitters and mechatronics engineers (analysis of the current state of a press, commissioning presses), programmers (e.g. EPLAN, S7 – PLC, IHM) and electrical engineers (e.g. programming all kinds of frequency convertor). “Our staff have a wealth of experience in using and operating the SCHOLPP lifting gantries. This saves us both time and money,” says Hofmann, explaining one of the greatest advantages from which SCHOLPP customers benefit.

SCHOLPP teams can always be put together flexibly as there is no fixed departmental logic. Whoever is the customer's contact becomes the project manager. We have a successful symbiosis of personal responsibility and close customer relationships here. “As in Germany, our customers in France and Spain always have a fixed point of contact in their country, even if the project takes us abroad,” explains Hofmann. This principle is followed by all of the Spanish and Italian teams on jobs across Europe and the rest of the world, from China to Mexico, Russia to Turkey. Many of the staff speak two or more languages, predominately German, Spanish and Italian, but also Arabic, English, French, Romanian and Russian.

SCHOLPP´s industrial service concept combines the flexibility of a small, highly specialized firm with the support and backing of a strong parent company. Top-of-the-range equipment, highly qualified staff and financial stability ensure technical, organizational and financial benefits for the company’s customers.
