Complete relocation of cosmetics production
Removal project including 30 production lines for natural cosmetics realized several months over
Enormous variety of parts: Laverana GmbH & Co. KG in Barsinghausen/Lower Saxony, a manufacturer of natural cosmetics, relocated an entire production line from its site in Ronnenberg near Hanover to Barsinghausen, Germany. The team from the SCHOLPP site in Bremen was awarded to professionally remove, transport and install the 30 production lines.
30 production lines from four production areas
The challenge of this project was not so much the individual weights of the parts to be transported up to a maximum of five tonnes or the maximum dimensions of 5.0 x 3.0 x 3.0 metres, but rather the complexity of the production lines. Several multi-part filling systems, filling machines, labelling machines, cartoning machines and palletisers as well as add-on parts, media systems and accessories had to be dismantled, packed and transported. The variety and number of individual machine and system components were enormous.
The project scope included the complete mechanical and electrical dismantling in Ronnenberg and the reassembly in Barsinghausen as well as transport and logistics organisation, including minor packaging. At the destination, the SCHOLPP fitters were also responsible for the exact positioning of the production lines during reassembly. The team also supported during recommissioning phase.
Safe take-off and landing: heavy-duty crane platform ‘Flying carpet’
At the destination in Barsinghausen, some machines and plant components had to be moved in at the upper floor of the factory building. Using a crane and the SCHOLPP heavy-duty crane platform ‘Flying Carpet’ with a load capacity of 16 tonnes, the transported goods were easily lifted into the air and landed safely in front of the building opening.
Precise resource planning: Flexibly scheduling rigging staff and equipment
During removal, it was necessary to flexibly adapt the processes to the local conditions and adjust deadlines. The primary objective was always to meet the scheduled completion dates in the individual project phases. In some cases, this meant that several production lines had to be dismantled at the same time, and SCHOLPP had to flexibly provide more personnel resources and additional technical equipment.
‘The time frame for production breaks and recommissioning of the individual production lines were strictly scheduled by the customer Laverana and had to be precisely adhered to by our team. In addition, ongoing production in the two plants was not to be disrupted for assembly work or transport,’ summarised the SCHOLPP project managers from Bremen. This project was a masterstroke of planning and coordination, not only because of the large number of components, but also because of the variety of individual assembly and transport operations.
