Installation of a laser cutting machine

Complete installation service: SLT Sauerland Laser Technik GmbH specializes in laser processing technologies and manufactures components for the automotive industry, the electronics industry, and the agricultural machinery sector. The company uses, for example, laser technology from the market leader TRUMPF. The SCHOLPP team in Stuttgart was tasked with delivering a TruLaser Cell 7040 machine to the SLT production facility, installing it, and preparing it for commissioning. Since the end of the 1990s, SCHOLPP has worked as an industrial service provider for TRUMPF across the globe in the field of machine installation and service - a successful partnership that continues to this day.

Complete installation, including delivery, positioning, and adjustment

The project for SLT involved the complete installation of a TRUMPF TruLaser Cell 7040 laser cutting and welding system. The package included a comprehensive set of attachments and accessories. On the first day of the project, the SCHOLPP team was tasked with constructing the foundation, including core drilling, anchor rods, and special mortar for the machine.

On the second day, the machine components were delivered in four truckloads, unloaded using a truck-mounted crane, and transported into the production hall on heavy-duty moving skates using a forklift. Due to poor weather conditions—including snow—unloading took place inside the workshop, where the installers had very little space to work. The relatively low ceiling height also limited the extension of the crane boom, which left little room to maneuver when lifting the machine.

System complexity due to extensive machinery

The key here was to move the central machine body, including the boom, to its precise foundation position and align it accurately. This was followed by its anchoring and fastening. Over the next few days, the SCHOLPP team installed the 30-part protective enclosure as well as all the attachments, such as the extraction system, extension tables, automatic tables, rotary tables, laser beam generators, and coolers.

Electrical installation and pre-commissioning

The project took two weeks in total, as the machine for SLT was highly complex and equipped with many attachments and components. In addition, SCHOLPP handled the entire electrical installation, including cable ducts, and carried out the pre-commissioning. During this process, the machine was powered up; at the same time, all attachments and transport systems were adjusted while the machine was in operation. The installers thus handed over the system in a condition ready for commissioning.
