Inside delivery of a CNC machining center with maximum precision
The SCHOLPP team from Bremen successfully completed a one-day installation for long-time customer VEMAG Maschinenbau GmbH in Verden an der Aller. VEMAG develops and produces high-quality machines and devices for the food industry and the food-processing trades. The systems are used, for example, to produce meat and sausage products and baked goods.
VEMAG had acquired a new CNC machining center from DMG MORI for its production line. The system from the world-leading manufacturer of cutting machine tools is used for metal machining. VEMAG primarily processes high-quality, hygienic stainless steel. The following machines were ready to be brought in and installed: a 24 t CNC machining center with dimensions of 8 x 3.8 x 3.2 m and a 12 t tool changer with dimensions of 4 x 2.5 x 2.8 m. The SCHOLPP team unloaded the components using a 120 t telescopic crane and then brought them in to the plant using a large assembly trolley, affectionately referred to as “Goat” by the employees, and a 16 t forklift.
The next step was to integrate the new DMG MORI CNC center into a production line with automatic material supply. This demanded maximum precision in the alignment of the machining center. The machine had to be positioned perfectly perpendicular to the feed rack. This responsibility fell to our team. We used laser technology to make this measurement with precision. Finally, the CNC center was fastened to the plant floor.
