Relocation of a laser cutting machine
Experienced installation: Trumpf SE + Co. KG in Ditzingen is the world’s leading specialist in laser processing technologies. SCHOLPP has been carrying out the installation of new machines for three decades and is increasingly taking on relocation projects. On this occasion, a TruLaser Tube 5000 machine was to be relocated. An experienced team carried out the dismantling, transport and reassembly within a short timeframe.
Since the late 1990s, SCHOLPP has been operating worldwide as an industrial service provider in the field of machine assembly and servicing for TRUMPF. The teams and service modules are put together flexibly and modularly according to the requirements of the job – whether for a single machine or an entire machine park. The teams, specially trained on TRUMPF machines, consist of mechanics, mechatronics engineers and electricians, and possess excellent knowledge of the machines and extensive assembly experience.
Relocation including removal, transport and positioning of the machine
This assignment for TRUMPF involved transporting a laser system over a distance of 125 kilometres from Warstein to Gummersbach. The scope of transport for the TruLaser Tube 5000 fibre T06 included a set of components: machine bed (4.7 t), loading device (5.3 t), unloading unit (2.7 t) and processing station (2.7 t). The accessories comprised an extraction system, a control cabinet, a laser unit, a cooling unit and small parts.
The first stage of the relocation project involved the SCHOLPP team professionally dismantling the laser machine in Warstein and loading the components onto the transport vehicles. The indoor crane was used for the large and heavy parts, whilst the lighter small parts were transported using an electric forklift truck fitted with fork extensions.
Preparing the foundation with core drilling
Before the machine could be reinstalled in Gummersbach in the second stage of the project, the foundation at the machine’s installation site had to be structurally prepared for assembly. Our team precisely surveyed the site using a cross-line laser and marked out the X and Y lines accurately on the concrete floor. Prepared drilling templates were then placed on top to mark out the drill holes for the fixings, which were drilled using a core drill.
Once the machine components had been delivered, the SCHOLPP fitters unloaded the lorries and, once again, used an indoor crane and an electric forklift truck to transport the parts to their designated locations. The mechanical and electrical assembly, as well as the anchoring into the foundation, proceeded seamlessly, whilst the customer simultaneously installed the external utilities – such as the air supply, gas connection, network connection and power supply.
Excellent cooperation, on-time handover and testing prior to recommissioning
Thanks to thorough preparation and close coordination between the customer and SCHOLPP, our team completed the project right on schedule. The third stage of the project involved the handover of the fully assembled and calibrated machine to the manufacturer, Trumpf, whose technicians carried out the tests required for recommissioning.
