Relocation of a machining center to Turkey

The SCHOLPP team from Frankfurt/Dietzenbach moved a cutting machining center from Bessenbach in northern Bavaria to Turkey in just under three weeks for commercial vehicle supplier SAF Holland GmbH. A new machining center was also delivered and installed at the location in Bessenbach. SAF Holland is a global supplier of commercial vehicles. The northern Bavarian company is a leading manufacturer of chassis-related assemblies and components. These products are used primarily in trailers, trucks, and buses.

The production plant in Düzce, Turkey was to receive a DOOSAN Puma 600L cutting machining center. For SAF Holland, it was an easy decision to assign this task to the SCHOLPP team from the Frankfurt/Dietzenbach location. Customer and provider are just under 40 kilometers apart by road. A machining center (24 t gross weight) located in Bessenbach was dismantled and sent on the 2,500 kilometer journey to Turkey. At the same time, a new machine of the same type was delivered, brought in, and positioned.

The base machines with the dimensions 700 x 300 x 305 cm each weighed 21.5 t net; the chip conveyor and extraction system were transported and installed separately. The removal and inside delivery of the machining centers took place during running production and thus under very tight space constraints. SCHOLPP assumed responsibility for all tasks, from dismantling, packaging and transport, to inside delivery, positioning, and set-up.

Equipment used for this contract included an 80 t truck-mounted crane, a 40 t VALLA in-plant crane, various assembly trolleys with heavy-duty rollers, and a 3 t forklift for bringing in and installing the system. By using a highly experience installation team and the 40 t VALLA crane, it was possible to remove and bring in the systems in minimal time without disrupting production. That meant both machines could be placed in operation at the desired time at their new work locations.
